Subject: Remember This Martial Arts Show?

Friend,

Hey, do you remember Fight Quest?

Of course you do. The show ran for 1.5 seasons in 2007 and 2008 on The Discovery Channel, and it "starred" Jimmy Smith and Doug Anderson, two relatively normal martial artists who traveled the globe training in different martial arts.

The "hook" was that, at the end of a week (or two-week?) training period, they'd have to fight practitioners from that art. Sometimes the fights were tame, but in other cases, they got nasty.

I was pretty upset when they cancelled the show. Every so often, I'll head on over to YouTube to watch an episode just for fun. And of all the episodes, I have to say my favorite was the Krav Maga installment.

In it, Jimmy ends up training with a military krav maga instructor, and Doug goes with a civilian instructor. However, the civilian instructor turns out to be much tougher (and some would say, crazier) than the military guys.

To put it mildly, Doug has a rough week. Check it out:

(Huh. Makes me wonder if the krav maga training they do in Israel is maybe just a bit different from what you get over here at the local Globo Gym...)

Anyway, that show was a hell of a lot of fun to watch. If you're interested, you can find all the episodes on YouTube, including shows that focused on Kali, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Thai Boxing, Savate, Kung Fu, Hapkido, Silat, and more.

Until next time,
