Subject: Beliefs, and Growing Your Dojo...

Friend,

Beliefs are a funny thing.

They can empower us, or limit us.

I'm sure you've seen it before... that student who thinks they can't kick that high, pull off that submission, beat that guy, or break those boards.

Then another student who is less talented, but with a better attitude, comes along and does it.

What's really weird here is that the first student with the limiting beliefs can react in one of two ways.

One, their confidence could be completely shattered by seeing someone who is less talented do something that they could not.

Or two, they could realize that it was only their belief that was keeping them from accomplishing that very thing.

I think you see where I'm going with this... beliefs can limit you in growing your school in all sorts of ways.

Sometimes, I think it's better to start a school without any preconceptions of what's possible. That way, you're only limited by your imagination, and that can lead to some pretty amazing things.

Why is it that some of the people I work with will hit 70 or 100 students in their first few months of opening their doors, while others will struggle for a year or more to reach those numbers?

I'll admit, sometimes it's a strange confluence of factors that allows a new school owner to experience rapid growth in their enrollment... right place, right time, right marketing, etc.

But often, when I dig a little deeper, I find that the school owner who outgrows other schools 3-to-1 simply believed that it was possible. And, that belief opened their minds up to all sorts of possibilities that a person with limiting beliefs would have missed.

So, work on your beliefs. Learn to recognize your limiting beliefs, discard them, and replace them with a belief in the multitude of possibilities that lie before you.

Doing so will make it MUCH easier on you as your grow your dojo. Trust me, it's worth doing the work on yourself to achieve your goals.

Until next time,
