Subject: LorenPhotos February Newsletter

I don't have to tell you how devastating this pandemic has been. I've been fortunate that the disease hasn't hit my family or myself. But not being able to move about freely has been horrible. I'm ready to go! Planning trips makes me feel better and I've been working on several trips for this year, hoping that most of us will be vaccinated. My workshop summer starts in Maine's Acadia National Park, which is always beautiful, but is special in early June. It's funny, I'm not going to travel for one that I look forward to the most but you can travel to me. I've planned a fun six days of Vermont beauty in June culminating with a hot air balloon festival. Then in July and August will be night photography workshops in Vermont. Later in August we're off to Iceland, a special place that I can't get enough of. October is fall foliage in Vermont and then in November Peru beckons. Machu Picchu is one of the most unique places in the world and we have one of Peru's top guides showing us around. If you are interested in Italy's Amalfi Coast, I'm working with friends Ron and Sarah on a trip in Sept. I won't be going but they'll take good care of you, see more below. There will be some smaller workshops throughout the year and I look forward to seeing everyone again.

Lightroom and Photoshop classes online
Making your photos look the way they should takes some work. Now is a great time to learn new skills or brush up on old ones and learn some new tricks.

I have three Lightroom workshops coming up, I set them up so they are progressive, take all three and you'll have almost all the skills you need. If you want to do just one session, either to learn something new or refresh, then you're able to do that too. The first two sessions cover the basics while the last session digs deep in the Develop module so you should have some Lightroom experience, like the other sessions, before jumping into it.

Lightroom: Getting Organized - March 30, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Then I have a Photoshop for Photographers class on two nights, April 28 & 29 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Since Photoshop is a such a powerful program, photographers don't need to know most of it, so I concentrate on what helps photographers the most. We talk about the basics, go into cloning and object replacement and I show you some fancy but easy tricks that will amaze you. It is a lot of fun when you understand it!

Night Skies and Light Painting workshop
I love being out in a Vermont field on a dark clear night photographing the stars. I frequently get caught up imaging what is out there, it is a fun feeling. I'm hosting two workshops this summer where we'll go out and make images of the night sky. There's more to it than just pointing the camera at the sky, I like to get out my arsenal of flashlights and illuminate something in the foreground, like a barn, covered bridge or fenceline. We'll go to different locations for each workshop, so join me for both. For the July workshop click here, for the August workshop, click here.
Peru, Iceland, Acadia are waiting for us
While almost every trip is cancelled for the first part of this year, I'm still planning some exciting travel photography workshops later in the year. Photographing Peru and Machu Picchu is something every photographer should consider. We have one of Peru's top guides taking us to famous and out of the way places. It will be one of those trips you'll never forget. We'll head there in November.

Iceland is one those places I can't visit enough. They have already announced that they will soon be welcoming vaccinated visitors. The summer landscape is phenomenal and it is so easy to get around. I've been there six times in the last four years so I know some great spots that you don't get to photograph on larger commercial tours. It will be August 15-20.

And Acadia National Park in Maine is hard to beat. We'll go June 2-6, when the bright spring colors are still around and the crowds haven't arrived yet.

All of my workshops will follow up-to-date CDC recommendations and you can sure that if I need to cancel a workshop you'll get a full refund.
Fall foliage in Vermont
I often wonder if Vermont looked like this all the time, would I get bored with it? I just don't think so. Autumn in Vermont is always spectacular and I take people to places where others don't, like the scene above. The 2021 workshop is Oct. 4-8 in Woodstock, VT.
Italy's Amalfi Coast with Ron and Sarah
I have teamed up two photographers who I have partnered with on some workshops and they have put together a great trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2. Ron Lake has been there several times and knows the great places to photograph. And Sarah McGarghan is handling the logistics so it should be a great trip. I don't have time to go, but they will take great care of you and make sure you make some wonderful photos. Click here for all the details.
