Subject: 2020 Do It Now

Hey Friend,

Here we are, about to start yet another new year and decade. I sincerely hope 2019 was a great year for you, and that 2020 looks even more exciting!

Even though there’s no real difference between December 31 and January 1, I love that feeling of hope and expectation of starting something new.

Sometimes ’new’ isn’t new at all, but a renewed sense that you need to get back to doing something...

Perhaps you put it on the shelf to focus on another goal or project.

Maybe it’s something you haven’t touched in years.

And maybe you’re reconnecting with a younger you to explore the dreams and aspirations you buried while you pursued the life you thought you were ’supposed to’ go after.

When it comes to losing sight of your most important dream, the life you were meant to lead, you can’t really be blamed for getting off track.

We don’t exactly live in a society that lets us follow the desires of our hearts. Especially if those desires don’t have a traditional paycheck attached to it.

No, we get told to follow the path that worked for our grandparents…

Study hard, get good grades, go to college get a good job at a big company and you’ll succeed.

The problem is, the society THAT plan worked well within is GONE.

It started crumbling in the 1980s and accelerated in the late 1990s as technology started to advance exponentially.

Now it's nearly impossible to find someone that stays with a company their whole career.

What the H-E-L-L does this have to do with playing guitar?!

Well, if playing guitar was one of those dreams that ended up on a shelf but you’re feeling like it needs dusted off, I want to issue a little challenge to you, Friend.

Find yourself a few minutes tomorrow to get that guitar out of the closet or out from under the bed

Get your hands on it and reconnect with the person you were when you first picked up a guitar.

Tune it up. Go out, get some new strings and replace the old ones.

There’s nothing quite like a new set of strings to reinvigorate your love of the sound of a guitar.

Rekindle the feelings your old self had for guitar and the dreams you had for playing.

What if you don’t have the same feelings anymore?

That’s cool, too. Find something that does charge you up, gets you excited.

And then DO IT!

Happy New Year!

Peace~
