Dear Friend As the holidays approach, many of us feel the weight of expectations—especially as mothers. From coordinating festive meals to ensuring every family member feels loved and included, the season often brings more stress than joy. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Here’s how faith can guide all of us through holiday pressures with peace and purpose: Anchor Yourself in Prayer: Begin each day by inviting God into your holiday preparations. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Ask Him for wisdom, patience, and peace. Focus on What Matters Most: The holiday season is about celebrating God’s love through the birth of Christ. Simplify where you can and let go of perfection. Luke 10:41-42 reminds us of Mary and Martha’s story: “You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” Practice Gratitude Over Guilt: It’s easy to feel guilty when things don’t go as planned. Shift your focus to what you are grateful for. Reflect on Psalm 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Set Healthy Boundaries: It’s okay to say “no” or delegate tasks. Your well-being matters. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest.” Rest is part of the harvest! Celebrate Connection Over Perfection: Remember, your family will remember the love and laughter more than the perfect meal or décor. Proverbs 15:17 says, “Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.”
Let this season be about grace—not just for others, but for yourself as well. Trust God to guide your heart and hands, and let the holidays be a time to reflect His light to your family and community.
