🔭 The Smart Telescope Grows Up
Smart telescopes have been getting steadily better for five years, but almost all of them have shared the same ceiling: a small aperture and a short exposure limit. You could point at a target, walk away, and come back to a decent image — but there were objects the hardware simply could not reach.
The DWARFLAB Draco raises that ceiling. A 90 mm aperture and 300-second single-frame exposures put it in genuinely different territory from every all-in-one unit that came before it. Faint galaxies, dim nebulosity, and narrowband targets that used to need a real mount and a real imaging train are now inside reach of a 5.5 kg unit that fits in the back of a car.
This is the one I have been waiting to be able to offer. After nearly forty years in this business, I do not say that lightly.
What makes the Draco different:
✦ 90 mm aperture, 1200 mm equivalent focal length — the light grasp and reach for small galaxies and planetary nebulae
✦ 300-second single-frame exposures — real integration time per sub, not just stacked short frames
✦ 50.33 MP telephoto and wide-angle sensors plus a dedicated 4.09 MP guide sensor
✦ Equatorial mode — field rotation handled, so those long subs stay clean
✦ Built-in dual-narrowband Hα + O III filter (13 ± 3 nm) — usable from a Bortle 7 backyard
✦ Built-in solar filter (ND, OD 5) — safe white-light solar in the same instrument
✦ 128 GB onboard storage and a 10,000 mAh battery for roughly 5 hours of imaging
✦ −20°C to 45°C operating range — built for a Canadian winter, not just a mild spring evening
✦ Aluminum-alloy tripod included — 480 g, packs down small
