About the 65PHQ Optics
This beautiful 65 mm f/6.4 Askar refractor sports a quintuplet optical design that includes two ED elements for amazing chromatic aberration correction and a wonderfully flat field. That's right, you do not need to add an expensive flattener to the Askar 65PHQ, it is already ready to go for full frame imaging! The optical design is air-spaced and produces a 44mm image circle so you can use larger full frame sensors without vignetting. Of course, the Askar 65PHQ is also great for smaller APS sensors as well, and it even performs well visually with the addition of a diagonal. Not all astrographs on the market can come to focus when used visually, so this is a real bonus! Use your 65PHQ as a spotting scope, a long lens for terrestrial photography, solar work (with the proper filters in place), nighttime visual work, or astrophotography!
About the Focuser, OTA & Accessories
The Askar 65PHQ comes with a nice big 2.5" dual speed rack & pinion focuser with 1:10 fine focus adjustment. The focuser is capable of rotating 360-degrees so you can frame your image as you like, and there is a scale on the drawtube so you can achieve repeatable focus. This refractor telescope has a focal length of 416 mm and a focal ratio of f/6.4. The OTA is CNC-machined, painted white, and has green trim...it is a very nice looking optical instrument!
Also included in the 65PHQ package is a pair of tube rings, a handle for easy transport and mounting, a 300 mm Vixen-style dovetail, a set of three photographic adapters, a finder base (finder and bracket sold separately) and an instruction manual.

ED-APO optical design assures virtual elimination of residual “false color” (chromatic aberration) normally present in 2-element achromatic optics. The objective lens cell is light-baffled to reject stray, unfocused light. The draw tube is likewise baffled to insure optimum contrast. The optical tube material is aluminum, powder-coated reflective gloss black with gold fleck accent. The front and back cells are cast-aluminum painted white or black. The Sky-Watcher APO optical tubes come with attachment hardware that allows them to be securely fastened to compatible mounts with quick-release tube rings.
