Subject: Why I'm Thankful for the Reset Button

Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow.
~ Edward Sandford Martin
Friend,
I love my job. Sometimes a little too much. It can be difficult to juggle home, family, pets, and work when I try to attend to them all at the same time.

It makes me feel stressed out, and sometimes even guilty. I have a difficult time choosing when everything seems so important.

Slowly, my life starts to unravel, and I lose my balance. I go from having two feet planted firmly on the ground, to walking a high wire without a safety net. The fall from that lofty perch is not pretty.

That's when I hit the Reset Button. Do you have a Reset Button? Mine shows up in a number of ways, but most often is just a change in routine.

We can either create the change ourselves, or nature will create it for us. I've noticed that when I'm not willing to listen to the inner wisdom that's telling me to slow down, take a break, do something different or go to bed, I get a nasty wake up call. It usually comes in the form of a cold, flu, back pain, headache or any number of other health issues.

I have a few tips I use to get back on track. Perhaps they'll  help you find your Reset Button.
  • Before getting out of bed in the morning, take one minute to think of what you're grateful for. How you begin your day is usually how it unfolds. Starting the day with a grateful heart can improve your outlook, which automatically improves your day.
  • Create breaks in your day that will help you snap out of the frantic frenzy. Brew a cup of tea, light a scented candle, if you're in an office use essential oils like peppermint to perk you up or lavender to settle you down, or use an app like Move to get you out of your routine.
  • Plan to take time off. Whether it's a vacation, continuing education workshop, or just a day off from work, take time to decompress. Shut off technology. Disconnect.
  • And most importantly, when you're with your family be present. If your mind starts to wander and gets filled with things on your to-do list, gently coax it back to the present. The magic is in the moments, and if you don't see them your life will feel unfulfilled.
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, let's come from a space of peace, gratitude and thankfulness. Relish the pursuit of happiness!

If you'd like some help preparing for the season in a way that brings about reflection, and allows you to slow down for just a bit, I invite you to join my on-line Healthy Holidays program. Each week leading up to New Year's will have a specific focus on how to handle the holidays with Joy, Peace and Harmony.

Take care,

Kat

I love the holidays, but often the entire season is just a blur. Last year I offered my Healthy Holidays program, and it was a huge hit. I like to think of it as my Reset Button during the holidays.

Don't worry - this program is easy to incorporate into your routine. It will actually help you to enjoy the season rather than have it be just another year going through the motions.

Each week we'll have a different focus:

Nutrition (adding in, not taking away)
Exercise (movement to increase your endorphins and energy)
Gratitude
Giving

The cost is only $25! And as I mentioned above, 20 percent of your program cost is being donated to Vital Impact. What are you waiting for? Sign up today!
