If you're nearing 50 (or already climbed over that fence like I have), then that familiar face you've been looking at in the mirror all these years might be starting to show a little wear and tear.

Now I truly believe beauty begins on the inside, but like most women I'm not immune to the value society puts on youthfulness. So I add a little magic to my daily routine that helps me put my best face forward—literally!

I discovered this little beauty a few years back and have been using it ever since. I'm sure there's lots of great products out there, but this one works for me. It's made by a company called NOW and it's Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum.

If you don't know what hyaluronic acid is, you're in for a treat. It's not going to burn your face off like that other acid they throw at people in the movies. Hyaluronic acid is actually a natural structural component of skin and is present in connective tissue throughout our body.

So why is hyaluronic acid such a big deal? The magic lies in its ability to retain moisture. It can hold more moisture than any other natural or synthetic polymer. What that means for us is plumper, smoother skin—naturally! 

As we age, skin tends to lose moisture and the results are often small lines and wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and neck. If that doesn't bother you, then keep on rocking your wrinkles! There's no judgement here. I like a little help from Mother Nature, so for now I'll be using whatever she has in store for me.

Food Focus: Zucchini & Asparagus Salad

This is a signature side dish one of my besties brings when she comes to visit. It's easy to prepare, healthy and simply delicious!

Ingredients
1 bunch asparagus cut on the diagonal into 1 inch pieces
2 zucchini cut into 1/8" thick noodles using a mandoline (slice vertically for long strips)
3/4 to 1 cup sliced parmesan cheese
1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 lemon, squeezed 
salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Toss zucchini, asparagus and slice parmesan together. Drizzle olive oil and fresh lemon over ingredients. Sprinkle with shredded parmesan. Serves 4. Enjoy!
