Subject: Pre-Detox Day 6

Topic: Some Important Reminders and Points - Part Two

Dear Friend,

Are you gearing up and getting excited? I certainly am. Today we want to highlight a few more points that will help facilitate this Eat-to-Nourish Winter Detox for you.

The Facebook Group

We can’t stress enough the importance of participating in the Facebook group. The more you engage, the more successful you’ll be. If you have a question, others have it also. If you have a frustration, others feel it also. If you have a success or an “ah-ha” moment, everyone will want to celebrate with you. If you encounter a challenge, we’ll all want to jump up to support you. The Facebook group is more important than the program guide and the meal planner and the recipe book all put together!

Think Simple Meals

We tend to complicate how easy it can be to plan ahead. You may even want to try one of the recipes in advance to see just how easy it is and to alleviate any stress about whether or not you can do this program. You can do it! We believe in you and your commitment to your goals.

Try modifying recipes if they seem overly complex. That’s perfectly fine. (See yesterday’s email for an example of a simplified recipe.) Most of the recipes can be doubled and tripled so you can refrigerate or even freeze some for another meal or two. This practice of cooking once and eating three times is an excellent way to save time in the kitchen.

A quick and simple meal is a nice piece of chicken, sautéed or roasted seasonal vegetables, and a salad with an oil and vinegar dressing. It doesn’t get much simpler – and tastier – than that!

Journaling

Journaling is distinct from the food diary you’ll be keeping during the course of the detox. The food diary is all about what goes in your mouth and how your unique body responds. The journal is all about how you feel and what you’re thinking and what you’re learning about yourself, your relationship to food, and your reaction to change.

Journaling can make the difference between this detox being a quick fix or a long-term growth in healthful living. It can also be darned fun. One way to go about journaling is to go to www.750words.com. You simply sign up (free for a month) and start writing. The program lets you know how many words you’ve written with the goal being 750 words. It keeps track of how many days in a row you’ve met your quota. It even analyzes what you’ve written in terms of your mood and such.

Vision Board

Pinterest anyone? Vision boarding is a time-honored technique to visualize what you want in your future. Find images of what you want for yourself in terms of your body, your health, your home, your family, whatever. You can then post them to what’s called a “board” on Pinterest (www.pinterest.com).

Pinterest is so useful for vision boards, which are so powerful, that we’ll be doing a special call on how to use Pinterest. We encourage you to set up an account now and start playing around with it. Then we’ll go through the finer points. These boards can also be shared with others in the detox group to give us all ideas and encouragement. Pinterest, by the way, is one of the funnest of the social media.

“You” Plan

The “You” plan is all about setting aside time for you to breathe, to be, to sit quietly, to take time to dry brush your body, sit in a hot tub, give yourself a facial, whatever makes you feel good about yourself and about life. If you don’t have five minutes in your day, take a minute here and there to breathe deeply, to take a few stretches, to take your shoes off and wiggle your toes.

Treat yourself as the important, unique, invaluable being that you are.

Be well,
