Ready for big changes? You’re on to Day Eleven of our Clutter Clean Out program. Today you're going to make huge headway in de-cluttering. You can do this!

This is my favorite room to declutter because you'll feel the change in the energy of the room almost immediately. It's also my biggest challenge because my office is filled with miscellaneous items from other rooms that have been cleaned up. Or as I like to call it, "the dumping ground."

Continue sharing your photos in our Facebook group. Keep up the great work. You're truly amazing!
Day Eleven Checklist ~ Office

  • Take everything off desktop and evaluate the use, put back only those items you use all the time, give or throw away what you haven’t used in two years
  • Sort through papers and do all filing or recycling
  • Answer your mail, pay your bills
  • Get everything that is not work related OUT OF your office
  • Untangle and label your wiring to computers, phone systems, lamps, etc.
  • Take everything out of drawers and closet and evaluate the use, put back only those items you use all the time and give or throw away what you haven’t been using
The Home Office

This, for me, is one of the most interesting rooms to do in a house. It's an opportunity to personalize and make this unique space productive and functional. Whether your office occupies one bedroom or an entire floor, the floor plan should allow for storage, workspace and sometimes meeting space.

Acoustical considerations are primary here. You do not want to be talking on the phone with a client or vendor and have dogs barking or kids playing in the background. Clever ways to offer acoustical privacy include wall upholstery, special wall treatments that insulate against sound and water walls that provide a soothing sound.

Clutter in home offices is the culprit responsible for a loss in personal productivity. Clutter can create problems like late reports, overwhelm and missed opportunities.

The Options:

#1 - Unused for 2 Years - Donate or sell

#2 - Broken - Throw away

#3 - Not Yours - Return

#4 - Unsightly or doesn't fit - Throw away, donate or sell

#5 - Still love - Re-purpose
