Subject: Clean Eating Transition Day 1

Friend,

You made it! Woohoo! Can you believe you are here? Today, the suggested meals will begin adding back in foods that were not a part of Phase 2 of this program.

Let’s define what food reactions can look like for you, because knowledge is power! I want you to be fully prepared.

It is important to note that there is a difference between a food allergy and a less severe food intolerance.

A food allergy typically:

• Happens within 2-4 hours of eating the food
• Presents obvious symptoms: hives, rash, headache, vomiting, etc.
• Can be anaphylactic or life threatening
• Involves the IGE antibodies

A food intolerance:

• Has more immediate symptoms
• Presents symptoms like gas, bloating, diarrhea, congestion, constipation, or headaches
• Is not anaphylactic or life-threatening
• Does not involving the immune system or antibodies

A little about food sensitivities and mood:

• Food sensitivities are a STRESS on the body, and, as you’ve learned, stress raises cortisol. This leads to adrenal weakness (low copper) and also increases blood glucose levels.
• Mal-absorption in the gut can affect brain chemicals (i.e. neurotransmitters). Did you know there are more serotonin receptors in your gut than in your brain?

Documenting your food and mood in your Food Diary is essential during this phase. The more information you provide about how you feel, the better you will be able to see which foods may not be right for your unique body.

Be extra present with yourself these next few days!

Enjoy the day,

Kat
