Stress and Adrenal Fatigue

Stress is draining, and this, too, is a toxin you can actively work to release from your body and life.

Stress raises our cortisol levels - which is not a good thing if left unattended over time.

This can lead to:
  • adrenal fatigue
  • blood sugar imbalances
  • high cholesterol
  • hormonal imbalances
  • poor skin health
  • poor sleep
  • low sex drive
  • sluggish metabolism
  • poor digestion
  • unhealthy bowel movements

So, what can be done to reduce adrenal fatigue?

Let’s talk about Lifestyle Choices for Health and Wellness.

Stress is essentially created in the mind. What stresses one person to the point of distraction may not give another person a reason to pause, hence it is all about perspective.

Some tips for dealing with stress:

Get clear about what is draining your energy in life. Make a list of people and situations that leave you feeling de-energized and depleted. Then, take action. Shift your relationship to the situation, or shift the situation entirely.

Sometimes we actually have to remove or leave a situation to de-stress our body. You’ve been journaling, right? Today would be a good day to use your journal to get clear on the areas of your life that are draining you.

Don’t forget to do something for yourself at least once a day. A lot of us are so busy taking care of our businesses, our loved ones, or the world that we forget we need love too.

Relax and breathe. Take time to breathe deeply for a few minutes each day and clear your mind. This will reset the sympathetic nervous system and tell your body that the fire is out and that it can stop the production of adrenaline and cortisol.

Smiling and laughing are also great ways to let your body know that life is not an emergency, so be sure to smile and laugh often!

And sleep is essential in recovery!

Get to sleep by 10pm - in bed, lights out. Cortisol is released at about 11pm and leads to a second wind that can keep us up for hours.

Do your best to wake up between 7:00am and 9:00am.
