GARDNERGLOBAL, INC RECEIVES A $4.5 MILLION DOLLAR AWARD FROM AMAZON HOUSING EQUITY FUND
Funding to support affordable housing in Seattle Central District

Seattle–During a press conference Jun 23, 2022, Amazon announced that GardnerGlobal, Inc, a Seattle based real estate investment and development firm will receive a $4.5 million grant to address the housing affordability crisis facing Seattle’s Central District. The grant received will go towards the final purchase of the remainder of the property owned by Mt. Calvary Christian Center, located Seattle, WA.

“To be selected as a recipient of this housing grant from Amazon is monumental,” says Jaebadiah S. Gardner the CEO of GardnerGlobal. We are intentional about addressing the wealth gap and about affordable housing for communities of color, specifically for those who have been disproportionately displaced. This grant will aid in disrupting those disadvantages and bring a vision of wealth, prosperity and hope to our community.”

GardnerGlobal, Inc. has purchased the Mount Calvary’s “Teen Center” site located directly across the street from the main church, where they will pay homage to the long-standing Black Church by naming it “23Calvary”. In June of 2021, GardnerGlobal along with partners Heartland and Laird Norton purcahed the main church site located at 1412 23rd Ave Seattle, WA. With both sides of the streets now owned by GardnerGlobal they look to provide over 250+ units of multifamily housing units and offer more economic empowerment in the community. “Congratulations to Jaebadiah. He represents the best in a crop of young developers making a difference in shaping the future of Seattle, said Douglas Howe, Touchstone founder & past CEO.

In 2021, Amazon launched its Housing Equity Fund with a primary focus on providing long-time affordable housing support while supporting minority led development firms. “We are committed to helping address the housing crisis in the Puget Sound region, which is disproportionally affecting communities of color,” said Catherine Buell, director of the Amazon Housing Equity Fund. “In supporting these projects, we are focusing on equity by not only increasing access to affordable housing but also being intentional about whom we select as development partners.”
