GardnerGlobal under contract to purchase Rose of Sharon Temple on Rainier Ave. in Seattle, WA, USA

GardnerGlobal is purchasing the property of another long standing Black church in Seattle - The story is crazy how this deal came together. This long standing Black institution has been on Rainier Ave. since 1952. With over 15,000+sf located just a few minutes drive from the Central District and downtown Seattle, in a neighborhood we from the 206 like to call “the Souf End”. GardnerGlobal plans to acquire and redevelop this property.

What’s special about this deal is it’s more than just an acquisition. GardnerGlobal will be joining forces with the Rose of Sharon Temple to develop the property with them as partners in the deal which fits our mission of building long standing wealth for Black and Brown folks. In addition GardnerGlobal will rebuild a new church home for them. This is important because we believe in keeping our long standing Black institutions right where they are rooted, in our community. If they want to stay GardnerGlobal finds creative solutions for them to do so.

Deals and opportunities like these don’t happen over night. Nor do they happen easily. They are many points of dissension, disagreements on terms, conversations and ultimately trust that needs to be built before anything like this comes to fruition. We were in negotiations for 5-6 months and everyone played their part to keep this deal alive because of the greater cause, building Black wealth.

The crazy part: while in Paris in September Arnaud Muller with CMG Consulting Group gave Victor and I a tour of a Black Church/apartment collaboration. I come back to our office in the US and there’s a purchase and sales agreement where we can model the same project here in Seattle. Coincidence? Or the Universe conspiring with us? With like to think the latter.

I want to thank Aqeel Na'im for your help in keeping the deal front and center for GardnerGlobal. I want to thank Jonathan and Melinda for sticking it out. Thank you Arnaud for showing us what is possible!

Lastly, I want to thank the leaders of the Rose of Sharon Temple and all the elders who’s shoulders we stand on.
