Happy holidays Friend! If you celebrated Thanksgiving we hope it was filled with family, food and love.

I can't believe it's already nearing the end of 2018. So much has happened this year. I don't know about you but it just zipped by! I remember clearly having a plan for 2018, excited about what was to come. The new office, the build out, new clients and new development projects. January 1st of 2018 came around I couldn't help but feel like I was living out that famous Mike tyson quote, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face" and it was definitely more like the good 'ol 1-2!

We had to regroup, keep steady and stay focused. The ebb and flow of the small business grind in Seattle was more real than ever before - The weight got heavy - You think the cost of living is astronomical? The cost of operating a business in one of the healthiest markets in the world is even more challenging. Month after month we watched as the windows of decade old businesses that were once the fabric of this great city go dark. Even though we are in the heart of the city, it felt at times that the walls were closing in. Folks were/are moving south for cheaper housing, commercial landlords escalating rent at will, where do you turn for support?

This is where the "GRIT" kicks in. We doubled down on ourselves as a team, executed on tasks and stayed true to our company values: Honesty, Integrity, Hustle & Equality. We brought on board two large scale development projects, hired an amazing team of architects, made several American Veterans new home owners and pushed through to create value where most saw our goals as too ambitious.

We're exploring our development projects in VR, continuing to give back the community and forging international partnerships across the globe.

Great thing about getting punched in the face is ain't no way in hell I'm gonna get hit with that again!

Here's to ambition, here's to adapting, here's to Grit.

Happy Holidays!

"As an African-American real estate broker, there are some people who will just have their preconceptions and they may not have confidence in you,’” he said his mentor told him. “Being African-American, I have experienced that at times in my career.”

There were other minority brokers like him when he started out, McGruder says, but many have since left the business.Damon McGruder, managing broker at OnPoint Real Estate Services, has been working in real estate for 20 years and said many of the other people of color that started out when he did have left the industry...."
