Subject: [Your Last Chance] 2YO Highland Reel Filly

Good Afternoon, Friend

I hope you're having a great week.

I thought I'd email out one final time to say we've got just x3 shares left (7.5% total) in our Highland Reel 2YO and her owners will start receiving their weekly update emails from Monday. It's an exciting time.

Last Thursday Amy had first 2YO winner of the season, with her first runner - plundering another decent French pot with Myconian - another shrewd purchase by Amy's husband, Lemos, who picked up him up as a yearling for £27k. We're hoping for similar luck with Via Electriano and our Highland Reel filly - this is your last chance to be part of her journey.

To re-cap...

As well as having horses to race and to have some fun with, we've teamed up with Amy Murphy and her husband Lemos De Souza, to initiate a couple of 'investment' Syndicates.

The aim is to buy into an unraced 2YO, race them a handful of times, get them winning and with any luck sell for a decent profit.

Of course, it's not always that simple, but Amy and Lemos have good form, performing alchemy with bargain buys (£40k<) and making a decent return. Only last season they sold Manhattan Jungle for around £360k, having been purchased for just £20k by Lemos as a yearling. At the time, Lemos had kept 25-30%, so it was a decent result.

They also performed wonders with The Covex Kid, transformed into a £180k horse now racing in Bahrain, having been bought by his original owners for £20k. Not bad. And such returns are essential to their business, as making money just on the training side of things isn't that easy, even with 70+ horses.

Those examples are the dream, and such returns have excited our existing owners. So much so, that the first such type we offered up, a speedy early season filly now called Via Electriano, sold out within 27 minutes of emailing our loyal bunch. You'll be able to track our progress with her, at what was a £10k purchase.

Thankfully for you, we do have a handful of shares available in our latest offering,

Our next exciting 2 year old filly,(Highland Reel x China Eyes) is waiting for you...

First up, let's take a look at her...

As 2YOs often do at this time of year, she's developing from week to week and already looks a different horse to the one Jay and I saw when visiting a few weeks ago. She's athletic, moves well and with plenty of strengthening up to come. She will be some unit in time. She has a great mind and it looks like Lemos' shrewd eye has picked out another exciting prospect.

As with Via Electriano and all our horses, she will be registered under our name, run in our colours and we'll decide with Lemos when and where is the best time to sell. You'll have full ownership benefits in line with your percentage, inc any prize money, and we'll communicate regularly through the usual channels. (You, as owners, will also have chance to name her)

Her Breeding

Lemos' first port of call when buying these horses is his eye, his experience and his intuition. However, breeding is an important element of course, but when spending less than £25k, you do have to think outside the box a bit and trust your instinct. After all, everyone can analyse the breeding. In saying that, there's plenty to get excited about on her page...

You can find her pedigree here: https://racingtoprofit.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/x-China-Eyes.pdf

The Highland Reel/Galileo sire line will obviously capture the imagination, as will the dam sire Danehill, along with plenty of winners down the dam's line. Highland Reel won x10 races in total, a Group 2 aged 2 and x7 Group 1s all over the globe, from Epsom and Ascot to Chantilly, Sha Tin, Santa Anita and Arlington Park. He won up to 1m4f and amassed over £7.5 million in prize money, which isn't too bad! Let's hope some of those genes rub off on our girl. It's relatively early days in his stallion career but he's already operating at a 22% winners to runners ratio.

We have plenty of exciting broodmare potential which could excite buyers also. Her dam, China Eyes, has already produced one winner, which is a great sign. The 2nd Dam has produced winners, including at Group 3 level, and there's plenty of success abroad down the dam's side, which could make our filly even more appealing to an international market. As you'll see in the link above, there's plenty of 'Black Type', which is always a positive. The stats for the damsire, Invincible Spirit, are also decent. So, there's lots to like on that front also.

How will it work?

As touched on, the aim is to race her and sell her for a profit if possible, asap, a decision that will be taken by Amy/Lemos and ourselves.

Her term is going to start 1st April. This one will be set up for a maximum of 18 months to take us through to September 2024 if needed - so, the maximum liability will be for 18 months. That is a 'worst case' scenario.

I'm aware the 'sprinter model' with a potentially quicker return can be more appealing (and could be why Via Elextriano sold out in 27 minutes), but I should stress, 18 months is the maximum length of term, the aim is to sell her ASAP, hopefully performing well enough early on, but with the back up of part of next season also if needed.

It could be that she takes longer to come to hand, is better as a 3YO in the first half of next season, and of course is a young horse who has to prove she'll take her training well early on when its stepped up. Of course, we'll have some fun and a great experience for however long we keep her for.

She's a different sort to Via, not a sharp sprinter type (but likely out in June or July), potentially more a 7f to 10f type in time. It could be that a sales decision/offer isn't made until late this season or into her 3YO year. Amy thinks she's picked up a bit of speed from the dam's side, which could make her more of a type for later this season.

Obviously the quicker we sell them the better and Lemos isn't one to hang around if the opportunity arises, but the horse will tell us, and it could be that we're better waiting until early next season in which to strike. As such we wanted to give ourselves some flexibility and as always we like you to know the maximum liability, which is only fair.

Amy and the team are happy with how she's progressing. She shows a great attitude and is sweet natured. She's been working well and doing everything easily with her ears pricked, which is always a good sign.

Lemos & Amy will be keeping 25% and there's also a silent partner who's got 25%, which leaves a maximum 50% for us. Jay(my syndicate partner) and I will aim to keep around 10-15%, leaving 35-40% up for grabs.

We now have just 7.5% left, (2.5%, 5% or all 7.5%)

The Costs

This filly cost 16k all in, so £400 one-off capital cost per 2.5%. + the monthly fees, all inclusive...

The Total for the full 18 month maximum term, including capital and all fees:-

2.5% = £2, 292.25

  • £505 up-front, followed by a maximum of x17 monthly payments of £105 pm, starting 1st May. That could be x6 monthly payments, x12, a max of x17 or something in between! (think of it as £3.45p per day)

5% = £ 4,584.50

  • £1010 up-front, followed by a maximum of x17 monthly payments of £210 pm, starting 1st May

7.5% = £6, 876.75

  • £1,515 up-front, followed by a maximum of x17 monthly payments of £315 pm, starting 1st May

*

That's the maximum liability if we go all the way through to September 2024 at the very latest, with our usual model of fees/forecasts. The hope of course is that she'll be long sold before then and as always you'll receive any rebates on fees against unspent costs/forecasts.

After the one-off upfront cost, the monthly fees for 2.5% work out at around £3.45 per day, which can be paid monthly.

With any luck she'll pick up some decent prize money also, especially with increased money being thrown at some 2YO and 3YO maidens /novices from this season. There's a new programme of 30-50k development races.

As usual they'll be a full agreement to look through before committing and a breakdown of forecast costs. You'll know where your money is spent. Everything we do is transparent, including all costs and fees.

You'll also receive all the usual RTP Syndicate benefits:-

  • Superb communications - weekly email updates, dedicated broadcast WhatsApp group, your own Owners' Area on my blog, direct access to Jay and myself.

  • No stress - we do all the work for you, including organising racecourse badges, days out at the races and organising yard visits

  • Great social events through the year and much much more.

  • Your experience is at the heart of all we do, and you'll make plenty of new friends along the way, with much laughter and enjoyment.

Obviously we'll be happy to discuss payment plans, whatever works best for you.

If you'd like to get involved in what promises to be an exciting adventure, do let us know, a share is yours if you'd like it.

Let the dream commence! Here's hoping she may turn into a 60-80k+ filly, and who knows, maybe the next Manhattan Jungle, selling for £360k.

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions or talk on the phone,
