Subject: 🏇Video Preview: Paddy Power Gold Cup

Good Evening, Friend

Paddy Power Gold Cup

Apologies for emailing twice in one day, I don't make a habit of that. However I've just recorded a video preview of Saturday's big handicap and thought it best to email out now. for those of you who don't enjoy Friday evening's TV offering.

I thought Stolen Silver looked a bet at 6/1 for a bit of TV interest. Umbrigado interesting to some degree also to my eyes. Hopefully I may say something interesting…

You can watch the reasons why by clicking the video image above, or you can click the link below, which also includes my Big Race Trends profile and shortlist, which may help you land on the winner...

re-cap – Hmm, well I shouldn’t sniff at a 50% win/place SR from Friday’s ‘through the card’, it needed one more winner really but that’s the game. My handicap hurdlers bumped into their Irish counterparts, having beat the other GB challengers. Urgh. They all still appear to have 10-15lb+ in hand of the UK assessor.

There was a lot to take in on the day really. Looking at the ones I mentioned...

Fine Casting evidently has more wins in him, probably over racing a bit and then doing too much too soon. He may tighten up for the run also. The UK jockeys do tend to go for home a bit to eagerly at Chelt/the hurdles track, their Irish counterparts maybe having more big field experience.

Hardy Boy didn’t jump well enough, finding it all a bit too much. One to watch next time back in calmer waters, maybe with Kielan Woods on. I think he's well handicapped. I flagged the next two winners in the notes but talked myself out of them at the prices, ah. Maybe you were wiser. Amarillo Sky was fit enough (although it helped the two in behind hung badly/didn't look straightforward) and Unanswered Prayers was impressive enough on chase debut around there, fair play.

Super Six moved/jumped very well for the most part but found sod all up the hill, strange. He moved as if well handicapped, one to keep an eye on. Flatter tracks maybe, unless he has a problem (breathing). Magic Dancer won well, possibly his Gold Cup. He received a decent ride. Nicholls has a good one but time will tell just how good. Still, he couldn’t have done much more. Quid Pro Quo ran no sort of race, maybe he’s just not that good or needs more time. Jonjo’s was awful. Odd, or maybe not from that yard. They can bomb out.

My two in the final race ran crackers, again doing too much too soon. I think Master Dancer was probably the best horse in the race on the day but possibly went for home too soon and could have done with more company. Evidently he’s well handicapped (but won't be missed next time either) and Mothill is an ok handicapper in the making but maybe aged 4 he will just find things challenging. Lots to like there though. It could be that form isn't worth much in time but you'd like to think both have more wins in them, the rest well beaten.

Good luck with any bets on Saturday as always. I need to get back to studying those 3m+ chases. I may be in touch on Sunday.
