Subject: Tracker Tuesday: Chase Eye-Catchers

Hello Friend

I'll jump straight to it >>>

You can read this week's members' 'Tracker Tuesday' post HERE>>>

This week I look at three young chasers who caught the eye last week, along with a couple of stats snippets for Oliver Sherwood and Jonjo O'Neill.

If any horses caught your eye, do post a comment under the post >>>

The Troytown... looking back at Sunday's race and it wasn't much fun!

Once again the market was correct and the top 5-7, 14/1<, is clearly the place to focus in this race. I'll have another go next year!

I don't like playing in Ireland too often, for various reasons, but do like attacking the big handicap chases, especially the Irish National where i was lucky enough to land on the 33/1 winner in 2018. I could do with another 33/1 poke going in.

Some thoughts >>>

Ravenhill should be winning a big handicap chase this season - i've no doubt about that. His big chase form just looks too solid. He was travelling very well (you can tell with Davvy I think) when falling - it was a long way out and I doubt anything was beating the winner on the day but I suspect he'd have ran with credit. Soft ground was a question for him and it could be he'll be better on a better surface. I wonder if he could be an Irish National type, ground permitting. In any case, one to keep an eye on.

In yesterday's members'  'Micro Monday' post I dived into various chase stats, including looking at Henry De Bromhead in more depth, and others- including Gordon Elliot, Colin Tizzard and Robbie Power.

However, I also discovered that Joseph O'Brien is now 0/28, 3p in C1 handicap chases over 3m+ . Gulp.

Actually, having just looked again, he's now 0/48, 8p in all C1 Handicap Chases. Urgh.

If I ever have a dilemma again in such chases, between one from Joseph or one from Henry De Bromhead I think i'll know which way to side. I was close to that winner as per the write up, so some positives, but not too many. I don't like being wrong but when value betting you have to get used to it! :)

Alas I failed to do my homework on that before the race, and picking Tower Bridge ahead of Chris's Dream looks rather silly in hindsight. Apologies for that shoddiness.

I've no doubt TB has a decent handicap chase in him - he got crowded early in the race and his confidence seemed to go a bit. He is still a chase maiden, maybe soft wasn't ideal, but clearly he hasn't run his race. He will pop up somewhere, as his form is too solid, and his mark looks workable. But maybe not a C1 !

Anyway, you live, and try to learn! :)
