Subject: 🟢🏇That Friday Feeling, 12/1 pokes, Let's Go...

Good Morning, Friend

A few things of potential interest today, including a couple of double figure pokes at Thirsk. The less said about yesterday the better (you can't buy winners in this game, stupid boy) although hopefully someone landed on Ed Dunlop's easy winner at Yarmouth under Hollie Doyle, 11/4>7/2. Outside of 'through the cards', if I ever mention a horse in a 3YO C6 hncp again, you've permission to send hate mail. Low grade summer jumping isn't much easier either!

First up... thanks to the 335 of you who've completed my quick survey (and the 117 who've left comments), some very useful pointers are coming through for me, on what you enjoy and what you'd like to see more of (Eye-catchers/horses to follow is up there, and not something I do much of presently, and it appears plenty of you enjoy my unique approach to big race trends, noted)

It appears a large chunk of my videos shouldn't be more than 10-15 minutes and given I try to provide content for you to ponder/help make your own decisions, getting it out the evening before could be useful. (and is possible) .

There's still time for you to complete it if you haven't, and be in with the chance to win £25 in cash money...

Secondly... Sam Darby's 'Free Tips Friday' post is going up this evening at 8pm, with a look ahead to a race on Saturday. He didn't like today's cards. So, do swing by the blog after 8pm if you fancy flicking through his musings (they'll be here>>>)

Thirdly... The Scoop6 Squad...

No-one is doing a very good job at winning the Scoop6 at the moment, but that means yet another rollover and the pot could be heading north of £275 000.

The chances of winning by yourself with a single ticket are in the millions to one, but with the Scoop6 Squad it should be in the low thousands with what could be a £6000+ perm.

Of course, it's still not easy to win, but you get plenty of selections to look at for the afternoon and their NAP won again last week.

You can buy your one-off ticket HERE >>>  (scroll down to the bottom)

Finally.... some horses...

For those of you who'd like me to get to the point a bit quicker than I can do at times...

  • 4.40 Thirsk: Little Earl 9/1 , 10/1

  • 4.40 Thirsk: Merry Secret 12/1

There are four places up for grabs for those of you who prefer EW punting. I've had beer money on the nose, still trying to cover this weekend's pub tab.

Yes, I know it's a C6 flat handicap (but not 3YO only!), but there's always some method for you to ponder...

Little Earl... the 'way in'... Ruth Carr and Jason Hart are 4/13,8p, +12 SP when teaming up in the last year - and given how hard it is to land on a Ruth Carr winner (or is it just me?!) maybe I should just follow those Jason is riding. Hopefully those stats keep ticking over, but it could be significant he's on...

He also rides Spanish Angel (8/1) in the 3.40 for her...who could be worth a closer look - I suppose I thought based on last time his mark could be about right, and they all face a FAV who bolted up last time and is in effect 9lbs well in - however, he 'could' fluff his lines, and Spanish could be thereabouts if he does. He is 2/27 on turf, but 2/10,3p when it's Good to Firm, so maybe the ground and Jason will inspire a jolt forward and he is very well handicapped against old turf form and more recent AW form. So, maybe he'll run well, but just depends what the Fav does I think, but you should maybe never fear one horse. It could be today, but track him if not, he will pop up on GF at some stage in the coming weeks, he just has to from this mark/his ability to win.

Back to the 4.40 -

Little Earl - is looking very well handicapped against his juvenile form for Robert Cowell and if Ruth ever gets him firing back on turf, he will just win something at this level, he has to. (posted RPR93 at his best, 2nd in a listed race) He's back on turf, down in class (first ever run in C6) and down in trip from his last start, which was a solid run - he tanked around in 1st blinkers, slowly run race, and I can see why they have dropped him - I'd expect a more aggressive ride but he may enjoy sprinting pace more. The form is working out also. Proper fast ground is an unknown, but it's a reason for improvement and maybe he doesn't like soft, which he ran on here three starts back off 7lb higher, but wasn't beaten miles and that was a C5. This is only his 10th start on turf and connections will still be learning about him.

I think there's lots to like, the niggle with both of mine is the low draw, but horses win over this CD from 1-3 when on fast, so here's hoping they're not the wrong side. There's not much pace on paper, maybe Jason will take this by the scruff of the neck. But 9s/10s is worth a dabble to my eyes

Merry Secret - no stats as such, more a 'profile', but when flicking through the others, I noted that he won over this CD last April in a 15 runner race, off an 11lb higher mark - with these low grade animals, I think some trainers evidently clock where they've run well and then aim them back here again (and more generally with all handicappers), maybe when they know they're chucked in. It's only his second run back here since that win, his other a few starts ago but in soft. All x3 turf wins on fast, 3/12,5p on GF.

He arrives in form, running in a Amateurs Handicap LTO and possibly not given the best of rides but they may not have wanted him that close, held up, he ran through the line, the easy winner has since sluiced up again at Leicester. It indicated he was coming back to form, for all at this level, they're never the most consistent. A very good pro in Ben Curtis now takes over and if building on LTO could run a massive race here. Enough there for me at 12s. If it's not today, do track him, and when back at Thirsk - they may both be drawn in the wrong place here and/or he may need more pace to aim at - these sprints are won and lost on fine margins, pace, positioning, the start etc.

As always, good luck with any bets,

Josh
