Good Afternoon, Friend

Horse Racing Betting in 2023: Five Key Differentiators

First up today I thought i'd flag an interesting article I've just read on Geegeez, penned by the boss, Matt Bisogno.

It's a relevant read for anyone who bets on horse racing, starting off with the question of why do you bet? Winners or Profit?

Matt then looks at Five Key Differentiators that could help improve your betting and results, starting off with - Relevant Form: Exposed, but consistent in today’s conditions.

He also looks at The Shape of The Race: Draw & Run Style, as well as three other areas of interest.

It's worth putting on the kettle, and having a flick through.

Looking back at Kempton....

Hmm, well it was the sort of ground you either handle or you don't, and many didn't, especially in those races run at a decent gallop. I've had better 'through the cards', only one winner at a rather short 6/4.

We were all delighted with Kaleb, who ran his heart out and just bumped into one with a bit too much speed for him late on. We know he needs 2m4f, but the hope was that conditions may see him go close, which proved correct. Now he's had x4 hurdle starts he's also qualified to run in some of the bigger C1/2 handicaps. If you're a novice you have to have a min of x4 hurdles starts to run in those races now.

We have many options with him, and if he can sneak in, we may run him at Aintree's Grand National meeting on Ladies Day in the 2m4f Handicap Hurdle. It's what dreams are made of.

He may well need to win before then though, for all options at Cheltenham in April also. Just a case of where we go with him beforehand. He will be winning races when moved up in trip, which is exciting.

If you want a horse for your tracker, the third in Kaleb's race, Head Law, is one such horse. He was buzzy enough on his first start back, ridden patiently given a gentle time up the straight. I suspect he'll leave that effort behind soon enough and I'd like to think it will prove to be decent form, given their profiles. The winner has a Betfair Hurdle entry.

All three proved that proper soft ground holds no fears and they finished better than many horses on the day. Jonjo's charge will also make a decent chaser if his looks are anything to go by, a proper stamp of a horse.

Stats...

For those of you who like your trainer/jockey micros, there's one below for Hereford to note. I did flag this on the blog pre racing, including the two runners who both won (it rarely goes that well!), but worth noting... from yesterday's blog post...

Hereford Notes…

Kerry Lee – I was just flicking through the card, and it looks mediocre enough, but Kerry is a trainer to keep onside here more generally, with two fancied ones today.

In the last year, she’s 6/19,9p +22 SP with all runners around here, 8/24,12p, +23 all runners when Richard Patrick is doing the steering, which is worth noting and a ‘micro’ that could well keep paying it’s way over time.

After 2 from 2 yesterday, those stats have improved somewhat, now 10/26, 14p when Richard P is riding her Hereford raiders. Solid.

That's all for today.
