Subject: Free Cambridgeshire Preview, Notes, Video, Trends Inside

Good Evening Friend

I'll jump straight to it...

The Cambridgeshire Handicap

1. My Saturday 'Big Race Trends & Trainers' post free to air and you can flick through it here >>>

2. Video Preview - You can watch my Cambridgeshire preview video in the post above, or on Youtube HERE >>>

In the final 7 minutes of the video I summarise my thinking but really the value, at least for your own puzzle solving endeavours, is in the preceding 20 minutes :)

I go through trainers in form, horses suited to conditions (esp the quick ground) and of course the invaluable pace map.

If you can’t be bothered to watch, you can skip to 20 minutes or so where I flick through three or four of interest.

Or you can flick through my notes below.

I tipped a 12/1 winner in my specialist race type yesterday - Wye Aye up at Perth. I've no expectation of finding the winner in this big field handicap but it's fun having a go. I'll be having change on a few monsters...

I’ve no idea how anyone can have a strong view on this race. I could name 15 horses and probably still not mention the winner. It is a race in which to have a handful of big priced pokes onside I think, all good fun. I’ll be track side and will no doubt ‘invest’ 10-20 across 3 or 4, not expecting a return. There’s probably a name for such idiocy but where’s the fun in sitting it out.

My three big priced pins have landed on…

Ametist (33s or so) – needs to leave last two runs behind, but 1st CP, unexposed still and over this trip, in a frantic gallop. Course form, likes decent ground. Clearly tailed off if repeating the last twice, could be in and around the top 7 at his best. Do you need to be high, low or in the middle in this? Anyones guess. What will the jockeys do – two groups or three.

Power Of Darkness (66/1) – Tregoning is in decent form at the moment and the horse gets 1st visor – last year’s winner had 1st blinkers on. That could spark him up and he did have some decent form to his name in 2019 and hasn’t been running badly this season – I’m just intrigued to see what the headgear does, but also whether this big field/potential strong pace may be just what he wants, and whether that helps him run on into the places. He relishes quick ground, which can’t be said for a few in here. Interesting. Possibly.

Jean Baptiste (66/1-100/1) I did think he was intriguing for G Boughey, who does very well at the Newmarket courses. He’s a course winner who looks versatile ground wise and had some decent form earlier in the season. He was given a break before returning at Chester – i’m not sure if deliberately so or if he had a hold up. Maybe they do think he needs soft to be at his best, waiting for the Autumn, but enough form on a sound surface given he’s a 66s+ shot. He ran well LTO, stays further, and I was intrigued at what he could do in a race of this nature – big field, possible strong pace. In saying that, there isn’t loads of pace on paper this near side and maybe he gets out, grabs this nearside rail and just keeps going. He’s noting on his back and I wouldn’t be shocked if he were in and around the places.

No doubt one of the more fancied ones who arrive in decent form will take it, from the big yards. But not a race to be taking single digits in my view, and not one to go mad in. But that’s just me.

Obviously it’s likely I haven’t mentioned the winner.

Of the more exposed ones, but proven in conditions to some extent as per the video – one of Data Protection and Youre Hired could grab a place, but surely something more youthful takes this. At their best they could grab a place for sure, big prices.

Do with that lot as you please. And if you have any fancies on the Newmarket card, do let me know - you may help me back a winner or two track side (while I keep half an eye on Market Rasen! :) )

All the best and have a great weekend,

Josh
