I hope you had a great weekend. I was lucky (well...) to be in Paris this weekend, taking in two days at Longchamp, my first visit. I thought the new place was impressive architecturally, and the French do the racing side very well. Saturday was quiet, and a joy. Sunday...well, there simply were not enough staff and the logistics were poor... large queues wherever you looked, for drinks, the toilet, betting etc. It wasn't great and reminded me of the Tatts enclosure at Aintree on a Friday/Saturday. The viewing was superb (bar the Abbaye, that's just silly) as was the atmosphere... I didn't hear many french voices it has to be said. The English/Irish/Aussies/Japanese were out in force. It was good fun. The less said about my betting efforts the better. I didn't expect much, but it was carnage really! All within budget though. I was pleased to see the Arc, a classic for me. I'd recommend a trip but hope they sort out the Sunday issues next year.
