Cheltenham's December meeting was proving rather frustrating for me, until the last race on the card. Day 1 was a -0.6 point loss, three placed horses ensuring I escaped relatively unharmed. My two in the Vets chase may still be running! However, I tipped x5 on Sat, busy for me, and the first 4 all lost. It wasn't looking great, and then up popped...
3.35 Chelt – Woodhooh – 16.5 (betfair exc) – 1 point win (WON +15.5)
Woodhooh – I wanted to have a stab at a big price here, Gordon’s mare 5/5 since going hurdling, and in her first juvenile victory she beat Nurburgring, who’s turned into a decent enough horse and was last seen winning the Galway Hurdle for us off 139. She beat up everything over here after that in juvenile contests and clearly has ability. I’m guessing as to her mark a bit and maybe the capper is also, these 3-4YOs/form can be hard to weigh up. She has some size about her and may have done well for the time off, a new trip also – it ‘could’ unlock further improvement, but of course it means she has stamina to prove – with that type you want some sort of price, well, I do. She has fitness to prove also but I’ll trust Gordon as surely he could have just kept her at home? He can ready them if so desired. Maybe this is a sighter for something else here, I don’t know, but at 15/1 or so, I wanted to roll the dice to find out. She jumps well, and GE has sent over a decent 3lb claimer with her, who’s ridden winners around here. I’m intrigued to see how she goes here, plenty of unknowns.

20 bets / 6 wins / 11 places (inc wins) / +31 points… +£155 to £5 bets (nearly paying for the next year of subs already, super!), or +£310 to £10 bets.
A decent little hot spell, a solid haul and I’ll do my best to keep adding to it!
