A muddy marathon chase and I wanted Jeremy Scott’s 7YO onside who won here in January over 3m in heavy, in a race that worked out well, before taking another big step forward three starts later at Chepstow over 31f, where it looked at those he’d just jumped in after the last, winning hard held. It suggested there could be a fair bit more to come as a marathon stayer this season and every chance this has been an early season plan, badly needing his return on unsuitable ground – either that or he’s out of sorts! But at 5s I’ll play as he could take some stopping here, with both course form, assured stamina and the promise of more to come this season – nothing else in there ticks those boxes to my eyes.
