We’ve been hard at work chasing down our mission to create equitable opportunities in real estate through education, access to capital and responsible development. Your faith in our work, support of our efforts and the time you’ve given are all important to us. As our partners we wanted to share our progress with you, encourage you to stay engaged and give you a peak at a few things on the horizon.

EDUCATION

When we all have a better understanding, we can start moving together. Education goes beyond classes and workshops, for us it also means building campaign awareness and educating the masses on our mission.


Highlights

  • We secured a $3000 grant from the Houston Fund for Social Justice and Economic Equity to fund the Strategic Advancement For Entrepreneurs (SAFE) youth real estate summer program

  • Established Food For Thought partnership with food influencer KeAndre Jordan. Through his MySouthernBrand platform he is driving awareness for the intersection of local development, small business and food security

  • Added merchandise to the DT3M Gumroad, including shirts, ebooks, and courses 

    • Fundamentals of Real Estate Investing virtual course now available!

    • Lot and Block Replats: Sharing Spaces in Real Estate Development Course - Virtual Course.

ACCESS TO CAPITAL

Our ability to form partnerships with builders and developers, and to access capital are paramount to our success. We’re structured as a nonprofit which means we can tap into both public and private resources to support operations, projects and programming. We’re looking ahead:


Highlights

  • Open to partner with builders, developers for contracts

  • Several development partners have been secured and we’re looking for more to acquire land to be banked for future projects

  • Next year focused on raising funds/securing capital and developing partnerships to provide funding to emerging developers

  • Our budget has blossomed  

    • $3k+ grants acquired

    • $2500 in supporter contributions

    • $500k real estate portfolio

RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT

Majority-Black zip codes lose BILLIONS of dollars annually due to undervalued residential and commercial properties. Our commitment to responsible development is supported by the collective investment of our supporters. In order for us to practice responsibly we need to increase our administrative budget. Highlights

  • We have secured two properties on the historic Emancipation corridor, both properties were strategically selected as anchors for the revitalization of businesses and surrounding community

    • 2408 Eagle

    • 3302 Emancipation 

    • Each property creates opportunities for engagement, economic development and placemaking initiatives like markets, community fitness and small business incubation.

  • Stepping into greater advocacy 

    • Policy recommendations that incentivize the activation of vacant and blighted spaces

    • Creative financing and alternative forms of ownership

  • We’re looking ahead to the development of a design book featuring local designers to equip emerging developers with community-informed blueprints to save time and money
