Subject: 🔮 Exciting News from Jennifer Blackstream! 🔎

Remember me?

Who is this weird woman?

I am so sorry it's been so long since you've heard from me!

Last month I was lifting a Swiffer (with only one hand!) and suddenly there was a loud pop and way more pain than a Swiffer should be capable of inflicting.

This led to a trip to the urgent care center, who sent me to the ER. The ER did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (for which I'm being charged $1200) and sent me to an orthopedic specialist. Apparently, having Madelung's Deformity (genetic) complicated the diagnosis and they needed an MRI (which I did not get because my insurance company wouldn't pay for it).

Long story short (too late), I couldn't type for a month. Or do a variety of other previously simple tasks. There was a LOT of complaining and sulking on my part.

But I am back at the keyboard, and I promise I will try to do better.

The Swiffer and I remain on bad terms.

I'll be at Dragon Con!

Writing Update

I'm halfway through the first book in the new series! So far, this book is huge. I may have to trim it down significantly, which will mean lots of bonus content. Or possible a special "extended edition" a la Lord of the Rings...

Here is my current writing plan barring any more Swiffer-related setbacks:

Write book 1 in the new spin-off series (I'm at 50% right now), save it

Write book 19 in the Blood Trails series, publish it

Write book 2 in the new spin-off series, save it

Write book 20 in the Blood Trails series, publish it

Write book 3 in the new spin-off series, save it

Book 20 in the Blood Trails series will likely be the final book! Woo hoo!

After the Blood Trails series is complete, I will start publishing the new series! And I am so excited for you to read it...

I need recommendations

I am looking for two things.

First, I'm looking for a new background TV show.

This is a show that I have playing in the background while I play games during my downtime. Normally, I only like cozy mysteries, but I just watched "The Other Bennett Sister," "Drop Dead Diva," and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and now I'm really feeling something light and fun.

I want something cute and funny. I don't mind some drama, but I do NOT want to be sad when the episode is over. Also, if anyone is really, really mean, they MUST get their come-uppance at some point. That is non-negotiable.

Second, I need a new urban fantasy series.

I want humor. I don't know if this needs specified, but I want a murder-mystery type format. A romantic subplot isn't a dealbreaker, but I don't want the romance to be more than 30% of the book. Also, nothing that will depress me, I cannot stress that enough. That whole Spiderman-type "nothing goes his way, poor guy" is not something I can tolerate. It just depresses me. My favorite urban fantasy is the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton.

If you have any recommendations, please respond to this email with them!

Ask Me Anything!

Do you know about Sharkie from Jaysea Lynn's Hellsbelles Facebook and Instagram, I think? She has a Facebook page by that name, don't fall for false pages. She wrote For Whom The Belle Tolls.

I've never seen her, but you're the second person to ask me that on account of my shark onesie!

Have a question?

Have a burning question you'd like to ask me?

Until next month, happy reading!
