Ryan here...
Confession first.
I have never once in my life "just been disciplined."
I don't wake up early because I want to. I don't stick to plans because I've got some iron will other people don't. Ask my wife. Ask anyone who's watched me try to stick to a diet.
So when people tell me "I'm just not disciplined enough to trade properly," I get it. I believe them. I am also not that person.
Here's what changed things for me though...
I stopped trying to be disciplined in the moment.
Because in the moment, mid losing run, staring at a red screen, there is no discipline left. It's gone. Your brain is in full "get it back right now" mode. Nobody is calm and rational there. Not you. Not me.
Discipline isn't a personality trait. It's a rule you set today, for a moment you haven't reached yet.
Same as setting your alarm the night before instead of deciding, at 6am, whether you feel like getting up. You already know 6am you won't want to. So past you makes the call for present you.
Sound about right?
You don't need to become a more disciplined person.
You need to write the rule down before you're in the losing run, not during it. That's the whole trick. That's it!
It's the actual thing we build with people inside BTC, the rule-before-the-moment part, not just the strategy part.
That rule starts with actually knowing what a normal losing run looks like for your strategy, before you're stuck in one deciding on the fly. Lightspeed Stats runs your exact strategy back through real results so you can see that before it happens for real, not during it:
