PERSONAL PROFILE:
DRS. JEFF & RACHEL ELMORE

SHORT FAMILY PORTRAIT:
We rang in the New Year and got married on December 31st, 2011 at St. Rose Parish in Perrysburg. We have four amazing sons: Isaac (7), Malachi (5), Peter (better known as Rocky, 3) and Titus (15mo). We call our lives "Divine Chaos" as we balance 5 acres of land in Whitehouse, homeschool and also run a chiropractic office. We love setting the liturgy of the church alive in our home. We love sports and are very competitive! We attend St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Temperance, MI.

What is your business and what do you love most about it?
Our business is Turning Point Chiropractic located in Perrysburg. We have the opportunity at each appointment with every patient to educate how beautiful God made our bodies and that it is meant to heal. It's almost like our whole day turns into a prayer while we help bodies heal physically, mentally and emotionally. We get to be Jesus' hands and feet with everyone. The miracles we witness daily never get old and we are blessed beyond words with our staff and patients.

How did you get into your business?
We both were impacted by chiropractic during our high school experiences with sports. We knew that we could help people function better while also being attentive and flexible with our children's schedules and needs. We attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa.

Favorite music:
Motown...and anything from Seph Schlueter!

Favorite family movie and television show:
Our favorite movie to watch with the kiddos is Sing and our favorite family show is America’s Funniest Home Videos.

Where you'd go on a dream vacation:
Jeff: The Holy Land.

Rachel: I would love to go see Mary's home in Ephesus.

Craziest goal you've set and accomplished:
After graduating chiropractic school, we set a goal of opening a successful practice without any business experience. Ten years and four boys later we are still in business and life is crazier than ever!

Books that have made a difference in your life:
Jeff: Any book that I can sit and read with my sons.

Rachel: Resisting Happiness by Matthew Kelly

Something difficult in life that made you a better person today:
Jeff: Two weeks before our son Rocky turned two he aspirated a peanut. When we went to the hospital, we were told the procedure to remove it was pretty simple and around thirty minutes. After two and a half hours the doctor came out and said it was more complicated and that they put in a chest tube, and he was on a ventilator in the PICU. After 4 days in the PICU a second procedure was done, by a different doctor. We were praying our Rosary and were only through our second Hail Mary when our pager went off. The doctor met us and said the procedure went well and Rocky could go home. We told the doctor it was so quick and we only made it through two Hail Marys, and he responded by saying, "Don't worry, this morning I said my Rosary and a decade was for Rocky."

Rachel: My friend lost her baby while she was 17 weeks pregnant. I had the complete honor to go to the hospital while she was laboring to adjust her to ease her pain and help the delivery along. I was so nervous to go into the hospital and to see my friend suffering. I didn't think that I had anything to give to help. While I was in the elevator on the way up to see her and her husband, I got on my knees and prayed harder than I ever have in my life and begged Jesus to do all the work. After the adjustment things quickly progressed that she actually delivered Franklin before I even got home. I knew right then and there that God was the one doing the work; I was just his vessel.

Some of the best advice you've been given you seek to follow today:
Jeff: Bishop Thomas helped us realize that our primary vocations are not chiropractors. Our primary vocations are children of God, spouses, parents, and everything else is a bonus.

Rachel: We once asked our neighbor the secret to his 50 years of marriage to his wife and he said, "It's not 50 and 50. It's 100, 100 and 100 between you, your spouse, and God."

Source of great inspiration in your life:
We have found so much love and comfort in the Saints. It's a friendship that we both did not grow up with and now continually turn to them.
Jeff: The year of St. Joseph really inspired me to read more on him. I look to him for wisdom, inspiration, and strength as a husband and father.

Rachel: I love Our Blessed Mother Mary so much. She constantly pierces heaven's veil to let me know she is with me. Her constant fiat and mantle of love is something I want to emulate.

Short story of owning your Catholic faith:
Jeff was a convert to the Catholic Faith in chiropractic school. Rachel is a cradle Catholic. We knew we wanted to raise our children differently and to "Live It". Recently in Isaac's co-op class another 7 year old boy asked "who's Catholic in here?" Isaac replied that he was. The boy then said, "Did you know that Jesus was the only one to be born perfect and without sin?" Isaac replied, "No, Mary too." After they went back and forth for a bit the tutor stepped in and stopped the conversation. We get choked up when we replay that scene over and over because we got to see our child own their faith. That only sets our hearts on fire to continue owning our own.

Favorite scripture passage or quote:
Jeff: Christe es lumen nostra! (Christ is our light!)

Rachel: Luceat lux vestra!  (Let your light shine!)

Short story of how you met your spouse:
Jeff: We met in Chiropractic school in Davenport, Iowa. You will have to ask us separately how we met because we definitely have two different stories. But, one story that never changes is that when I saw Rachel walk into the lecture hall for the first time, I leaned over to my friend and told him, "I am going to marry that girl one day."

Rachel: :)
