An Urgent Message From the Library Director
Berlin-Peck Memorial Library
I urge you to attend the special town council meeting this evening at 7pm when the Town Council receives the budget passed on by the Board of Finance. There is an Audience of Citizens section on the agenda where you can express support for the amenities you enjoy provided by the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library.

I have submitted a budget that maintains most of our services and accounts for some rising costs beyond my control. Our audio-visual line item was already cut by town administration, which will curtail our streaming feature, Hoopla, and lengthen time waiting for new materials.

Further cuts by the Council would affect many aspects of the library; possibly hours and days open, staff positions, new materials purchased and most definitely, programming for all ages.

Please use the Audience of Citizens tonight to tell the Council that the Berlin-Peck budget cannot sustain further cuts; that you appreciate all the resources available to you for free.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at hmalinka@berlinpeck.org
. I am always happy to provide updates where the Library budget stands at any time.

Thank you,

Helen Malinka
Library Director
