We are so serious sometimes about all the things we 'have to do'.
Do you know what I mean?
You wake up and immediately have a list of Things To Do squashing your brain into uncomfortable shapes…
Or you fill any empty spaces in your day with, “I’ll just quickly do this” and then find yourself stressed for time.
Or you feel so overwhelmed by all you 'have to do' that you can’t even bring yourself to start any of it.
It's so stressful!
And really not self-loving.
I’ve learned something really beautiful.
Big lists of Things To Do, can be navigated with self-love.
AND it’s much more efficient and productive.
Seriously.
So this is how to do it:
You look at your list and ask yourself,
“Which thing feels most exciting to do now?”
Because we tend to do that, ‘you-can’t-have-desert-if-you-don’t-eat-your-vegetables’ thing to ourselves.
Or you ask, “Which thing feels easiest for me to do?”
Again, we like to leave the easy, quick jobs till after the big jobs are done, sort of as a treat.
DON’T DO THAT!
It’s totally un-motivating.
Start with the funnest, easiest things on your list.
Follow the fun.
Do it with ease.
Be silly.
Add frivolity if you can.
Because when you allow yourself to start with the things that feel best to you...
you get them done faster, with less pain…
And then you have more momentum and motivation to move onto the next thing…
And the next…
Even the things that are scary or frustrating or challenging can be overcome by asking yourself,
“If I loved myself, how would I approach this now?”
And then do it that way.
So, if you loved yourself, how would you face today’s To Do List?
