New Online Video! - Bunkai Flow Drill from Chuck Norris’s UFAF ITC.

The drill was designed to be an “aide memoire” for a number of the individual techniques we had explored from the Pinan / Heian / Pyong-An series. By putting some of those techniques end to end like this in a single drill I hoped that it would make the techniques easier to recall and it would hopefully also help to illustrate that kata techniques should be applied in the order they are relevant; not necessarily in the order they appear within the kata.

The techniques themselves where chosen because they were good illustrations of both the combative and bunkai principles we were exploring. It also shows the variety of methods within the Pinan / Heian / Pyong-An series because we have examples of limb-control, passing obstructions, arm-locks, strikes, neck-cranks, strangles and even a little ground work.

As I say in the clip, this is not a technique, but a drill to aid memory and to help illustrate some of the principles and concepts covered in the seminar. A short clip from a two hour session is obviously not enough to convey what the drill is really all about. Nevertheless, I hope it is of interest to you all.

Seminar in Kansas, USA
 

JUST 8 PLACES LEFT! From Friday the 28th of September to Sunday the 30th of September I will be teaching Kansas in the USA! The sessions will cover a host of kata applications, bunkai principles and related self-defence methodologies. All the sessions will take place at Sagasu Family Martial Arts, 725 N 7th Street, Levenworth, KS, 66048. The phone number for the venue is 913-297-0900. The timing of the sessions if Friday 6pm to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 1pm. All three sessions are just $100 (Friday session only $20). This seminar will take place in Chelmsford, Essex from 12 to 4pm. The seminar will cover locking, locking flow-drills, and locking escapes and counters; all from the perspective of the traditional kata. Joint Seminar with Dan Lewis in Oxfordshire – 16th of March

On Saturday the 16th of March I am teaching a joint seminar with Dan Lewis 6th dan. The seminar will run from 10am to 6pm and will be held in Old Mill Hall, School Lane, Grove, Oxfordshire OX12 7LB. This session is open to all grades and styles (adults only) and previous knowledge of the kata being covered is not necessary.
