About the role of IAGR Secretary

The IAGR bylaws provide that the Secretary is an office holder of IAGR along with the President, Vice President and Treasurer, but is not a Trustee. The bylaws also set out the minimum duties for the Secretary, however, we recognise the office also has a bigger contribution to make in advising the President and Board of Trustees, and managing IAGR’s corporate governance. This is especially important as we progress our strategic planning to build on our achievements and best position IAGR to continue to lead the world in gaming regulation.

The Secretary is appointed by the President for a term of two years and may be reappointed for a second and final term of two years.

Here is a basic summary of the Secretary’s duties.

Working with our Board of Trustees

Working with our Secretariat, the Secretary manages all aspects of IAGR Board of Trustees (BOT) meetings including:
  • preparing and circulating agendas and BOT papers
  • facilitating BOT communications
  • coordinating minute taking and circulation for approval
  • monitoring that action items are advanced and consistent with BOT resolutions
  • facilitating BOT nomination and election process.
Annual Members' Business Meeting

The Secretary is responsible for organising the Annual Members' Business Meeting at IAGR’s annual conference.

Key responsibilities include drafting the agenda, coordinating voting activities and post-meeting reports.

Supporting IAGR's President

The Secretary assists in providing governance-related advice to the President and working with the Secretariat to manage the President’s involvement in official IAGR engagements such as speaking opportunities, conferences and events.

Are you the governance leader we’re looking for?
