Dear IAGR members
The possibility to
find public data in order to compare the development on the gambling market
between countries is very limited. At the IAGR Board of Trustees meeting in
Lima, Peru, 2015, the Board agreed to establish a sub-committee on statistics
in IAGR. Furthermore, the Board expressed positive comments regarding a
Statistics sub-committee at the BOT meeting in London in February 2016.
The aim of the
Statistics Sub-Committee is to collect and present an overview of the following
statistics on a yearly basis
- The size of the gambling market in different countries
- Comparable data for the gambling market in different
countries
- Regulated gambling types in different countries
I very much hope that you find this initiative
interesting. I personally think that the sub-committee could contribute with
valuable information to all IAGR members. We would get a unique overview of
comparable data sets across jurisdictions and hopefully find the information
useful in our regulatory work and duties. I will be chairing the Sub-Committee
and furthermore contribute with Chief Adviser Martin Ipsen who is very
experienced within statistics. The Board of Trustees would very much appreciate
if you would consider contributing with a group member
from your staff too to make this initiative a success.
The plan is to conduct the first committee meeting
in connection with our yearly IAGR conference in Sydney, 31 October – 3
November 2016. Subsequently, we expect to have an online meeting every 2
months.
Please find attached a
terms of reference for the committee.
