Subject: Missions Class Trip | Yukon, Canada

April 2, 2025

Hello,

The spring ALERT Missions course has been underway for a few weeks now, and they have been immersed into the broad world of missions through teaching and discussion about many specific aspects of missionary life and work. The men have studied the Biblical basis for missions, Gospel foundations, the call to full-time missions work, the Great Commission, terms like “disciple-maker” and “missionary”, and the necessity of developing partners who will pray and invest in one’s ministry endeavor. Their studies and learning are ongoing as they grow in their understanding of the greatest responsibility on earth.

In late April, we have the opportunity to send them to Yukon, Canada, so they can experience and practice what they are learning by working with a missionary who has spent the past three years church planting among a First Nations people (Canada’s version of our term Native American). While they are there, they will be exposed to many of the unique dynamics of cross-cultural ministry, while also doing some practical projects to aid the ministry’s presence in the community. The men will also have a chance to help the missionary family with some of their needed tasks at hand.

Cooking, eating, and sleeping conditions will be on the rough side, with no indoor plumbing. Some of their scheduled projects will depend on the weather conditions at the time, but they will have daily contact with the missionary, while gaining an experiential appreciation for the harsh living conditions and varied obstacles of ministry in that part of the world.

This spring's Missions class includes Micah Dankers, John Larson, Ray Lawrence, Kaden Martin, Ethan Michaelis, and Joshua Parker. Their Unit Leader is Ian Walker, and their Instructor is Jeff Ryder.

Will you pray for our team and trip?

  • Pray our Missions class will be a blessing as we seek to serve this ministry.

  • Pray that the Lord will use this trip mightily to shape their lives.

  • Pray for the logistics of this endeavor. They are many, including the Lord’s provision of the necessary finances, coordination of travel plans, and flexibility needed for the team’s daily schedule depending on the weather conditions.

Thank you for your prayers and support! We are so thankful for your indispensable partnership with us in this ministry of the Gospel.
