This Saturday we have the opportunity to send the ALERT Missions class to Yukon, Canada, to work with a missionary who has spent the past three years church planting among a First Nations people (Canada’s version of our term Native American). While they are there, they will be exposed to many of the unique dynamics of cross-cultural ministry, while also doing some practical projects to aid the ministry’s presence in the community. The men will also have a chance to help the missionary family with some of their needed tasks at hand.
Cooking, eating, and sleeping conditions will be on the rough side, with no indoor plumbing. Some of their scheduled projects will depend on the weather conditions at the time, but they will have daily contact with the missionary, while gaining an experiential appreciation for the harsh living conditions and varied obstacles of ministry in that part of the world. |
