This quarter, I’ve had the chance to lead a Bible study series with the Battalion on the topic of identity—what it is, why it matters, and how we develop it. We’ve spent most of our time in the book of Psalms, especially watching how David wrestles with his own identity through the highs and lows of life.
In Psalm 16, David contrasts those who seek their worth in anything other than God with those who find it in Him. Verse 4 says, “The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply,” while verse 8 declares, “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”
Trying to find our worth outside of God will always leave us empty. But when our identity is rooted in Christ—the risen Savior who holds all authority, the one in whom we live and move and have our being—we are truly transformed.
As we move forward from the Easter season, may we never lose sight of this truth. Let us find our identity daily in Jesus Christ. |
