January 30, 2024

We often yearn for epic moments, and victories forged in fire and fury. But sometimes, the crucible of transformation simmers quietly. As David tended his flock, he wasn't a warrior king; he was just a weary youngest son who was living as a shepherd, miles away from glory. Yet beneath the Judean sun, God whispered purpose into David’s heart and turned a humble shepherd into a leader who would defeat the enemies of Israel and God.

For most of us, hardship isn’t going to be the fire of hand to hand combat with the enemy, but rather something more mundane like an overwhelming force of bills to pay or impossible deadlines to meet. Here at ALERT, we take the men through carefully constructed hardships in their training to help them to grow and learn to rely on God for their strength as David did. And then, when a storm of unexpected hardship hits, they will be prepared to face the onslaught.
