February 20, 2024

"Strong to Serve" has been the motto of the ALERT man since 1994. An ordinary man is often marked by an attitude of self-service. He is often so focused on himself that he never takes a moment to look at the needs of those around him, or to consider that there may be a purpose for living that is much greater than himself. Jesus set the opposite example during his time on earth. In Matthew 20 he said that he "came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." As we seek to follow Christ and become more like him, we would do well to remember how he lived: pouring out his life loving and serving people. By God's grace, may we seek to do the same.
