For my unit's first Saturday Inspection in Basic Training, my Cadre told us that the standard for passing was 21 gigs. By the end of that first inspection, we had received around 3,500 gigs; I remember thinking, "How will we get that number to 21 in 8 weeks?" The task seemed impossible! Over the weeks, however, our Cadre trained us and pushed us to grow. We learned and failed, learned and failed again, until we finally passed. It was one of the greatest feelings I've ever experienced!

Thinking back on that time, it strikes me how similar that time was to most of life for Christians. God often calls us to do things for him that seem impossible. The wonderful truth is that no matter how hard or impossible the thing may seem, God always equips us for what he calls us to. In the same way that my Cadre didn't just "call" my unit to the standard, but also trained us to reach it, God trains us and equips us for what he calls us to. Let us embrace this training, knowing we are being shaped for His purpose.
