Subject: ALERT Alumni Update | June 2025

June 25, 2025

Dear Alumni,

This last quarter was a long one, but a good one. My staff and I are grateful for the brief furlough we’ve had as we prepare for the next group of men to return. I wanted to take a moment to highlight a few alumni moments from the last quarter, and recognize a few individuals as well.

Unit 71 graduated at the end of May with 31 guys, which was great. It also meant that we had two 2nd-generation ALERT guys graduate as well. Micah Dankers and Jack Tanner, whose fathers went through Units 2 and 3, graduated with Unit 71.

Capt. Josh Tanner (Unit 3) was gracious enough to be our keynote speaker for the event and did a great job giving a charge to the outgoing Unit, as well as to all the alumni. You can find his talk here. We are always grateful to have alumni back to encourage and exhort the current generation of ALERT men.

I also wanted to recognize the following Alumni who recruited men who ended up attending the last Basic Training Unit:

Banman, Calvin (U68)

Banman, Mathae (U67)

Besosa, Luke (U70)

Booher, Clancy (U65)

d'Amboise, Jesse (U70)

Long, David (U48)

Moy, Nathanael (U53)

Niles, Sawyer (U71)

Ropp, Adrian (U68)

Schmitt, Christian (U71)

Thank you to each one of you for passing on the ALERT experience to other young men.

As a reminder, if you refer someone to ALERT and your name ends up on their Basic Training Application, ALERT will send you a $100.00 referral check as a small thank you for helping to grow the program. You guys are our best recruiters, and we are grateful when you send guys our way.

One last thing to mention. Captain Winkler is in the process of repainting and doing some redecorating projects in Aspen for the men in Battalion. As part of that, he is creating an alumni patch wall with patches from ALERT alumni around the world. If you are in the military or work for a police department, fire department, or EMS department and would like to send a patch from your job to get added to the wall, you can send those to Capt. Winkler at ALERT's One Academy Blvd mailing address. If you have any questions, just shoot Capt. Winkler an email (swinkler@alertacademy.com). Once we get enough to hang, we'll get them up and I'll send you all a picture of the wall.

Forge on!
