The Opioid Crisis: A Community Gathering // TONIGHT @ 7:30PM // main hall // Addiction
to heroin and other opioids has become a national crisis that touches
everyone. It’s in our streets, in our schools, and in our homes. HMBFC is hosting an open gathering for anyone who is
looking to raise awareness, feel compassion, and take action about this
health crisis. Carmen Capozzi, a member of the governor’s
Advisory Council on Drug & Alcohol Abuse, will lead the discussion
along with representatives from Allegheny County and members of Sage’s
Army, a nonprofit organization that Mr. Capozzi founded to raise drug
awareness and prevent addiction. There will be time for
questions and discussions following the presentations. A collection will
be taken at the end of the program from anyone who wants to support the

To everyone who participated in our replenishment blood drive on
Sunday. We reached our goal of collecting 20 units of blood! This will
directly impact 60 local lives.

brothers and sisters in the Black Presbyterian Caucus by setting up, restocking

Blessing
of the Backpacks // SUN
AUG 27 @ 10:30am // main hall // Education is a huge blessing. But like most
things that are worthwhile, it’s also really challenging. So as students are
heading back to schools and universities and training centers we are going to
take a few moments to pray for all of the instructors and teachers and
professors and bus drivers and counselors and custodians and students of all
ages who will be working hard this fall and throughout the school year. If you
are a student or work for an institution of learning, please be prepared to
join the others in receiving a special blessing led by Becky Boyer, our

Collecting Donations for The Lofts // Maggie
and her team are hard at work revamping our Lofts missional urban
retreat ministry: revising the programming, redesigning the website,
and refurbishing the third-floor apartment where our overnight guests
stay. To improve the experience for our guests, they are collecting NEW,
WHITE bed linens, pillows, and bath towels. Please bring your

Membership Class // Wednesdays starting SEP 6 @ 7PM // main hall // This four-week series is for you if you want to make a deeper commitment to our mission by joining HMBFC. We'll explore the story of Jesus and the story of HMBFC. We'll talk about what it means to profess faith, to participate regularly, and to give joyfully. We'll share food and get to know each other better.
