Intro

After pondering the Scripture passage for this week's worship gathering, the staff of Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community put together this spiritual formation kit for groups and individuals to use.

We hope that it will encourage transformation as you encounter God's voice in fresh ways through the Bible; connection as you talk and pray together; and interaction as the sermons become less of a Sunday morning monologue and more of a week-long community conversation.

Reflection Questions
Guide discussion with these questions or ask your own.
When have you tried to “test” God or “trap” God? Why did you do this?

What is the difference between the 1st and 2nd commandment? Is there a difference between loving God and loving others? If there is one, what does that look like?

What does it say that every commandment and every “law and prophet” is contingent on love of God and neighbor? What does this say about Christianity?

This text takes us beyond instant gratification and our own self-interest. It implies that doing something outside of ourselves is the greatest thing we can do. When is a time you have done this? How did it make you feel?

How do you think our current political climate would be different if we all put God and others above ourselves? What is one small way you can live into this commandment this next week?
