Last week, Nathan preached about gratitude. He also reminded us that memory is a way we can connect to God and remember that we are still here and breathing, one miracle at a time. I hope that during our tumultuous transition towards a new pastor we can remember times like this past Sunday with gratitude and joy: the sound didn’t work, and some of us went the wrong way for communion! It's the end of a hot and muggy summer and the stress of the school year is upon us and we still showed out with over 50 people attending in-person and via zoom. We are still here because of how dedicated our community has been to itself. We have recently been using the phrase “the KIN-dom of God” to remind us that we are all here, together, still breathing. Who knows what will come next but we have all helped us get here, to another week, where we can remember how God got us up today and somehow, someway, keeps our little community moving forward one little breath at a time.

Please see below for some announcements.

Sanctuary Help

First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to all who stayed this past Sunday to help transform our worship space into a space for sacred sanctuary artwork. (Special thanks to Dylan, Jan, Wiley, Luke, Joni, Darlene, Derwin, Jenn, Lisa, Abel, Michael, Melanie, Amy, Gerry, Brenda, Lauren, and the kids! If we missed anyone, sorry!)

Second, we will need everyone's help to turn the space back into our worship space on Saturday, September 22, probably around mid-day (more details to come soon). It should only take a little over an hour if we have a similar turnout. Please contact Nathan, Lauren, or Liam if you are able to help. Thank you in advance!

Special Announcement regarding September 17

Due to the Sanctuary fundraiser, worship on September 17 will be outside on the patio (weather-permitting). If the weather does not cooperate, we will move inside where will be able to enjoy the artwork in an intimate setting. Thank you in advance for your understanding and flexibility!

During our pastoral transition, our friends at the Commonwealth have graciously agreed to assist with pastoral care needs. If you are in need of pastoral care at this time, please email Erin Angeli at: erin@oaklandcommonwealth.com. You may also reach out to anyone on leadership for assistance.
