A message from Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community Interim Pastor, Sally Jo:
It was an early Summer Vacation Bible School—that annual weekly gathering—featuring kids, crafts, camp songs, Kool-Aid, cookies, community, and
curriculum on the life and ministry of Jesus.
No matter whether we held it in the morning or in the early evening, it was always very hot and very humid, leading to more than a few occasions of whining, from both children and adults. One evening, as the parents arrived to gather their children, I overheard five-year-old Kasie answer her mother’s question, “How was Vacation Bible School today?”
With a somewhat exasperated sigh, an eye roll, and “It’s ok. Always the same, a love, love, love, love… just a whole lottta love.”
Let the little children lead them!
Although too often we settle for the surface statement and a generic experience, the foundation of our Judeo-Christian faith is love.
Christ's teachings of that love is the very foundation of the law, the prophets, and the witness. We are to love God from deep within, with the strength of our body, the thoughts of our mind, and the courage of our heart.” (First Nations Version).
