Dear Hot Metal,
I don't know about you, but the sunshine and warmth (or relative warmth...it's not California warm yet) from this past weekend were a balm to my soul. Tim and I were able to be outside for much of the weekend, literally getting our hands dirty as we muddled around our new garden, not 100% sure we were doing the right things, but happy to be doing it.
It was a reminder of the beauty of God's creation. Not that rain and cold aren't beautiful in their own way, but soaking up the light and warmth rejuvenate us in ways that are indescribable. Being outside reminded me that even in the midst of all the uncertainty and death that dominates our current situation, God's creation continues. New life springs forth despite what is happening. We can find respite and rejuvenation to continue on the path set before us.
I pray that you find some time this week to find some moments of such rejuvenation. Whether that's being outside or being in silence or connecting in relationships with others. This is a long time to be in isolation, and even as restrictions lift slowly, it will continue to be a long time without the things we are used to filling our lives. Please continue to care for yourselves, so that you can continue to care for others and God's good creation.
In Christ's peace, Pastor Erin
