With sad hearts we share that long-time Hot Metaller, Ang Zeis, died yesterday. When we know more about funeral arrangements or how Hot Metal can support family and friends, we will send an update.


A friendship with Ang is what started Hot Metal's initiative to provide ASL during services, and she is who taught us to sing "I Love You Lord" together through sign along with interpreter Heather. Beginning December 21, we will be welcoming two new ASL interpreters to Hot Metal, Ellie & Christina, and in the new year will be thanking Heather for her many years of interpretation. Thank you, Ang, for kickstarting this piece of our lives together all those years ago.

🍩 VOLUNTEER AT HAZELWOOD FOOD PANTRY

For years, Fishes & Loaves Cooperative Ministries has been providing free groceries to Hazelwood neighbors in the very space we worship in, and Hot Metallers have begun serving breakfast to those waiting in line. No RSVP is needed, just arrive ready to assist neighbors with love, dignity, and a passion for donuts. This month, Fishes & Loaves is giving away winter coats. Hot Metal will collect donated gloves to go along with them. Bring your donation with you on Saturday.

A three session bible study to gather and center us in scripture, our traditions and our experiences during this holy season of Advent.

In a season packed full of emotion and memory, we will use that as a guide in our study and sharing of the familiar scriptures of Advent. Flyer >>

Following the lead of our friends at Casa San Jose, we join them and other communities of faith in a committed prayer witness in front of the ICE Building on the Southside every Friday. You are invited to bring respectful signs welcoming immigrants and asylum seekers.

UPDATE FROM ALLIANCE FOR HONOR AND REPAIR

Pastor Jeff Eddings, chairperson for the Alliance of Honor and Repair (and our former pastor! shout out!) has provided a video update on the Alliance’s progress. The Alliance is a ministry team of Pittsburgh Presbytery working to document the experiences of our Black Presbyterian congregations, to honor their ministries, and to recommend options for repairing damage that resulted from systemic racism within our Presbytery. There are several specific references to the history in our neighborhood in Hazelwood.
