Subject: Erin Angeli's Ordination is THIS Saturday!!

Dear Hot Metal Community,

As we continue rooting ourselves in the prayers of the Psalms, we'll turn to Psalm 15 this week. Originally, scholars believe this was used as a hymn as people entered into the Temple, as it outlines the actions of those who are "righteous" and dwell in God's holy tent.

We don't have a big fancy processional to enter into our space...and I think we are rightly leary of anyone who walks in thinking they are "righteous." So what might we learn from praying with this psalm together?

I know many of us have come from churches and traditions where the act of "confession" was a "have to" of the Christian life, often more concerned with making one feel unworthy and inadequate. But I'm wondering if this psalm invites us into seeing Confession as acknowledging the ways in which we don't live up to our ideals, and asking God to love us and invite us into God's dwelling anyways. When we dwell in the "Heart of Love," we have more freedom to acknowledge the ways in which we fall short, and more freedom to dream about what we could do together in grace.

February 4 at 3:30pm at the Community of Reconciliation! Join our friends at the Commonwealth of Oakland to celebrate with Erin as she is ordained as a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), and as their pastor. The service for ordination will be 3:30-5:00 with light refreshments to follow.
