May is National Foster Care Month, a topic near and dear to several Hot Metal families and individuals. All month long, we will be collecting items for Pressley Ridge, which supports thousands of children each year through safe and nurturing foster homes. Then on Sunday, May 31, a representative from Pressley Ridge will join us to receiveĀ our gifts and share more about the impact of foster care. Needed items:

For years, Fishes & Loaves Cooperative Ministries has been providing free groceries to Hazelwood neighbors in the very space we worship in, and Hot Metallers have begun serving breakfast to those waiting in line. No RSVP is needed, just arrive ready to assist neighbors with love, dignity, and a passion for donuts. (Breakfast at 7:30, food distribution at 9 AM, volunteer for either or both.)

If youāve ever wondered what to do when the news feels overwhelming, this is one place to start. Every Friday, we choose to be present in a place where fear and uncertainty are very real. We gather outside the ICE office on the South Side with Casa San JosĆ© and other faith communities to sing, to pray, and to remind all of Pittsburgh that our faith demands dignity for all people.

We've got a schedule switcheroo! There is no meetup in May, but save the date onĀ JuneĀ 19 to see "Toy Story 5" in theaters. We will need to reserve tickets (free for kids) in advance since this is opening day, so RSVP to Pastor Sally Jo at sallyjo@hotmetalbridge.com.ThisĀ gathering is for kids ages 10-15 to build friendships and feel at home in our community. With caring adults alongside them, itās a time when connections deepen and everyone belongs.

The whole congregation is invited to this Young Yinz Meetup for fireworks night at PNC Park, but kids go for free, get their own section, and get $10 for concessions. Adult tickets are $35 (and also include concessions $10). RSVPĀ information coming soon.
