Dear Hotel Quinta do Lago Guests,
It is with great pleasure that we let you know that Portugal has again been awarded, for the 4th consecutive year, the World Best Golf Destination by the World Golf Awards. This recognition of the unique qualities that Portugal and, in particular, the Algarve have to offer for golfers, namely the gentle winter weather, the fantastic offer of golf courses and the experience of the hotel's in catering to guests needs, fills us with pride and will surely incentive us all to pursue the continued improvement of the experience we offer!
In Quinta do Lago, the great pride was that Quinta do Lago South — my favourite golf course… — rightfully received the award for Portugal's Best Golf Course 2017, recognising the charming character, beautiful landscape and great upkeep of the course.
I am confident that many more golfers will be visiting the Algarve and Quinta do Lago but mostly look forward to welcoming back our guests, to discover what we will be undergoing in the hotel during the winter…

| XXII Hotel Quinta do Lago Amateur Golf Challenge 2017
The hotel had the great pleasure of welcoming back many regular guest to this years event, but also welcome some new participants — who proved to be a good challenge to fellow guests!
As usual, the highlight of the event was the dedication and sportsmanship of all participants, but this year's participants specially enjoyed and extraordinary week of sunny weather, which proved to improve everyone's game and make the challenge more interesting! Complemented with the excellent shape of the golf courses and the unique hotel service, guests unanimously voted this years event as the best in many years!
The week ended with the award ceremony, which was followed with the gala dinner and some lively dancing to the hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s, beautifully performed by the band Up the River.

2018 Amateur Golf Challenge
The Hotel Quinta do Lago Amateur Golf Challenge has long been the highlight of the hotel’s golfing season, a social get-together that is a favourite of many of our guests and a perfect opportunity for golfers, of all levels, to contest fellow guests on the Algarve’s tremendous greens and together enjoy charming evening social events, during a week of blissful competition.
The 23rd edition will be held from the 27th of October to the 3rd November 2018 and will retain the format of previous years, to maintain the social gathering and enjoyable stay character of the week: three days of social rounds - Texas Scramble, Three Clubs & a Putter, and Four Ball Better Ball competition - and, on the final two days, the single Stableford challenge. This year's selection of golf course will include Quinta do Lago North, Vale do Lobo Royal, Monte Rei, Quinta do Lago Laranjal and, for the last round, the recently awarded Quinta do Lago South.
Prizes will be awarded to overall winner, second and third players with most Net Stableford points over the challenge rounds, and also to the player with best overall gross score, amongst the other small challenges throughout the week, followed by a charming farewell Gala Dinner with live entertainment music.
